Virginia E. Tweedie, age 87, a lifelong resident of New Egypt, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at home. She was born in Jackson, NJ to the late Orville and Catherine Grant on May 17, 1932. Virginia was an active member within the community. She was a member of the New Egypt Chapter of Deborah, a member of the Cookstown United Methodist Church and spent much of her time as a volunteer with the Ocean County Nutrition Project. Virginia was also a part of the Visiting Homemaker Services of Ocean County, serving those in need of home services. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by those who knew her. Virginia is predeceased by her parents; her husband Clifford Tweedie; her son Norman Ivins; and siblings, Orville Grant and Aileen Moore. She leaves behind two sons, Russell Ivins of Indiana and Thomas Tweedie of New Egypt; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister Carolyn Hand and many other extended family members. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at 11:30AM on Friday, November 29, 2019 for a funeral service to be held at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
