Obituary

Valerie M. Sheridan, age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Born on December 11, 1988, in Elizabeth, NJ, to Thomas and Marie Sheridan.

Valerie was a vibrant, social soul who gathered a large circle of deeply cherished friends and felt her feelings deeply. She was simultaneously sensitive and strong, gentle and fierce, unafraid to stand up passionately whenever she encountered unfairness. Her sharp mind, and compassionate heart, led her to a fulfilling career as a speech-language pathologist, where her proudest educational achievements were put to use helping and empowering children. Music, dancing, gardening, arts, and theater brought immense color to Valerie's world. She loved Halloween and the 4th of July. Her favorite band was Saves the Day and "Jessie & My Whetstone" was her favorite song. Above all, Valerie's world revolved around her son, Shae. As a doting mother, she poured all of her time, energy, and love into teaching and caring for him.

Valerie leaves behind her beloved son, Shae; her parents, Thomas and Marie Sheridan; and her brother, Thomas Sheridan, II; her husband, Stephen Kuter; and a large, loving community of extended family and friends. Valerie was blessing to all.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Valerie's life during a visitation on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 1 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A prayer service will begin at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will take place at 11 AM on Friday, July 3, 2026, at St. Mary's Russian Orthodox Church, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson, NJ 08527, with interment to follow.
