Obituary

Shirley C. Ham, age 97, resident of Whiting, formerly of Cream Ridge, passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. She was born on July 6, 1928 in Far Rockaway, New York to the late Raymond and Irene Gerould.

Shirley was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Her legacy is her faith and undying love for her family, and the example set by quiet acts of kindness and compassion. She was proud of her family Genealogy and enjoyed sharing it so that the history would continue.

For those who knew her professionally, she retired from Prudential Property and Casualty or "Pru" as she called it, in 1991 and enjoyed lasting friendships and the challenge and satisfaction that came from a job well done.

She loved American History, gardening, stamp and coin collecting, and most of all, visits, calls and letters from family and friends. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that will be deeply missed.

Shirley is predeceased by her "Forever" love, husband, Joseph E. Ham; her parents Raymond and Irene Gerould; and by her siblings. She leaves behind her five children, Linda Palumbo and husband Anthony, David Ham, Janet Natale and husband Robert, Karen Silakowski and husband Mark, and Susan DeVore and husband Billy; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
