Roger L. Chaney, age 76, resident of New Egypt, formerly of Matawan, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He was born on May 6, 1948 in Perth Amboy, NJ to his parents Stephen and Lillian Chaney. Roger was a Past Chief of Matawan Borough Fire Company, served as Captain of Washington Engine Fire Company where he was also a life member, and New Egypt Vol. Fire Company. He was a member of Bayshore Chiefs Association. Roger was also a member of both NJSFA where he served as Secretary, and NJ State Fire Chiefs Association. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend that will be deeply missed.

Roger is predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Lillian (nee Cline) Chaney. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Jill (nee Farrell) Chaney; his son, Christopher Chaney; his two grandchildren, Jack and Cora; his sister, Valerie Hall and husband Tim; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Farrell.

Family and friends are invited to attend visitation for Roger on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 1 PM at the funeral home with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery located on Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
