Paul Hammerschmidt, age 72, long time New Egypt resident, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. He was born in New York, NY on November 28, 1952 to the late George and Gisela Hammerschmidt. Paul enjoyed woodworking and restoring classic cars, and was a longtime member of the Friends of the Plumsted Library. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, George and Gisela (nee Eberhardt) Hammerschmidt and step-mother Stefanie (nee Piff) Hammerschmidt. He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Christine (nee Stocklas) Hammerschmidt; his two children, Alan Hammerschmidt and wife Mary, and Karen Edge and husband Laird; his three grandchildren, Sam, Robin, and Maxwell; his three siblings, Freddy Piff and wife Betty, Christine Griffin and husband Walt, and Janet Lewis and husband Ted; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on March 19, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish located at 28 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. A memorial mass will start at 11 AM at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery located on Evergreen Road in New Egypt, NJ 08533. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Paul's name to St. Isidore the Farmer Parish Saint Isidore the Farmer Parish, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
