Margaret Nixon, age 88, of Springfield Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at The Pines at Medford. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, E. Allen Nixon and her parents, Cecil and Edith Fowler. Margaret was also predeceased by her dear sister-in-law, Mae Tilghman.
Margaret is survived by her devoted and loving son, Jeffrey Nixon, and son, Allen Nixon (Donna). Margaret leaves behind her grandchildren, JR (Allen), Chris, Danielle, and Ethan. She's also survived by her great-grandchildren, Xavier, Liam, and Eastyn. Margaret will be missed by her extended family, Wayne and Carol Gaskill and Lester and Susan Gaskill.
Margaret was born and raised in Vincentown, NJ on October 22, 1937. After high school, she was a switchboard operator at Eagle Dye and was employed at Grant's in Mt. Holly. She was a mother and homemaker and supported her husband, Allen, in his auctioneering business. Margaret was an active member of the Vincentown Grange #67 for 74 years and a longtime member of the Mt. Holly Chaper No. 147 of the Eastern Star. For a good many years, she served on the Burlington County Farm Fair Committee. In later years, she enjoyed visiting the family cabin in Perry County, Pennsylvania.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Margaret on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 9 AM to 11 AM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 11 AM with burial to immediately follow at Jacobstown Cemetery located on Schoolhouse Road in Jacobstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Margaret's name to the Burlington County Animal Shelter https://burlingtoncountynj.formstack.com/forms/animal_shelter_donations
