Madeline A. Byster, age 84, of Cream Ridge, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026. She was born in the Bronx, NY, on May 1, 1942, to William and Susanna Staib. Madeline worked as a food service supervisor at CentraState Hospital in Freehold before retiring. She served as Past President, EMT, and EMT instructor for the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad and was dedicated to caring for others.
Madeline was a faithful Catholic and communicant of Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Wrightstown, NJ. With a lifelong Marian devotion, she was a natural caregiver to family and friends from an early age. She also had a lifelong devotion to Padre Pio. Madeline was creative and enjoyed arts and crafts, puzzles, and games. She also loved animals, especially elephants, her dog Chico, and her cat Momo.
Predeceased by her parents, William and Susanna; her husband, Johannes ("John"); her son, John Francis; and her sister, Dalma, Madeline leaves behind her son, William, and his wife, Dawn; her daughters, Susan and her husband, Nicholas, and Anne and her husband, Dennis; her sister, Marie; her daughter-in-law, Linda, her brother-in-law, Anthony; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark), Brittany (Austin), Nicole (Scott), Eric (Julie), Lucas, Nicholas (Toni Ann), Jonathan (Samantha), and Daniel; her great-grandchildren, Evan, John F., Oliver, John S., Jaxon, Harper, and Alexandra; her nieces and nephews, Kent, Diana, Vincent (Jacqueline), and Tina (Joe); and her great nephews and niece, Vincent, Giovanni, and Liliana.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Tilghman Funeral Home 52 Main Street New Egypt, NJ 08533. A memorial service will begin at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
