Joseph T. Carroll, Jr.

Joseph Thomas Carroll Jr. (1929-2026)

Joseph T. Carroll, Jr., age 96, passed away at home on October 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of family. Born on December 30, 1929 to Joseph T. Carroll and Evelyn A. Gangwisch, Joe lived a long, fulfilling life defined by devotion to country, family, and career.

After graduating high school, Joe joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. Following his honorable service, Joe focused on building his family. Alongside his wife Dolores they raised six children, of whom they were incredibly proud and loved deeply. Joe balanced fatherhood with a long and successful career with Jersey Central Power and Light.

Joe was a lifelong outdoorsman. Another source of enjoyment for Joe was baseball. Whether celebrating a historic championship or watching a regular-season game from a favorite armchair, baseball was a source of happiness (unless the Yankees were losing) and often a topic of conversation.

Joe is survived by six children: Nancy, Elaine, Virginia, James, Joyce, and Brian. Four grandchildren: Walter, Kaitlyn, Devon, and Dylan; three great-grandchildren: Tanner, Liam, and Stella.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, brother Thomas, and sisters Patricia and Louise. He is survived by his sisters Evelyn and Patsy Lynn.

A private service and burial will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Boys Town or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
