Joan’s rich and fulfilling life was marked by her long and distinguished career as a Corrections Officer at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. Her work reflected her steadfast sense of duty and commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of others.
Family was at the heart of Joan’s world. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Rich Cheesman, whose partnership with Joan stood as a lasting testament to mutual respect and enduring companionship. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jeremiah Leeds and his fiancé Jenna Nazon, and her great-grandchildren, Galaxy, Gracie, Poppa, and Chloe. Each member of her family was a source of immense happiness for Joan, and her devotion to them knew no bounds.
Joan’s life was not untouched by sorrow; she was predeceased by her father, Joseph Huley, her mother, Kathyrn Huley, and her grandson, Kenny Mark Leeds, III. Their memories remained ever-present in her heart.
Beyond her professional accomplishments and deep family ties, Joan found great pleasure in simple joys and favorite pastimes. She delighted in taking trips to the New Egypt Flea Market, where time spent among familiar faces and new discoveries was always dear to her. An avid animal lover, Joan displayed her compassion not only to her family but also to every creature she encountered. Occasional adventures to Atlantic City casinos brought her excitement and laughter, as did many spirited games of bingo.
