Doris (nee Ely) Blanda, age 91, longtime area resident of New Egypt, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at home. She was born on June 26, 1932 in Crosswicks, NJ to the late Melvin and Lila (Reed) Ely. Doris was a member of the New Egypt United Methodist Church. She worked several jobs, Weiner's Department Store, Hallock's farm, and Hartmann's Pharmacy. Doris enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The greatest joys of her life were her kids, grandchildren and taking care of her home. She liked canning and freezing produce from her home garden and was an expert pie baker. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt that will be deeply missed.

Doris is predeceased by her parents, Melvin and Lila Ely. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 72 years, Anthony Blanda; three children, Wayne A. Blanda, Paul R. Blanda and wife Marie; and Annette Lanham; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Viola Schumann; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Doris will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt, NJ.
