Denise Jean McCarthy, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.
Denise was born in Jersey City, NJ, on February 20, 1950, to the late Thomas and Janet Vick. She met the love of her life, Thomas, at a TGI Fridays in Manhattan, and they were married on February 22nd, 1968. Denise lived in North Bergen until moving to Jackson in 1987 with her husband, Thomas, and three children Thomas, Erin, and Kevin.
Denise loved spending time with her family, especially her dog Gracie, spending holidays at her daughter's home, taking boat rides with her companion Frank, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. She possessed a gentle and unassuming nature, offering her care and support from afar with a quiet, heartfelt sincerity. She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor.
Denise is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Joseph McCarthy, Jr., her parents Thomas Vick and Janet (Chinery) Vick, and her brothers Thomas Vick and Kevin Vick. She is survived by her cherished daughter Erin Kimberly (McCarthy) Schenke and husband Jason, and her two loving sons, Thomas Joseph McCarthy III and wife Kim, and Kevin Colin McCarthy and wife Kimberly; as well as her two surviving sisters, Veronica (Vick) Thomas and Judi (Vick) Szperlak; her two sisters-in-law, Lisa Vick and Eleanor Vick; two brothers-in-law Vinnie Thomas and Joe Szperlak; along with her five nieces, Kelee, Chelsea, Alise, Abby, Emilygrace, as well as two nephews, Lucas and Thomas. She has been blessed with two beloved grandchildren, Kendall and Kadyn McCarthy.
Denise will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 16th, 2024. There will be a short ceremony at 11am at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ, 08562. Due to cemetery regulations, the family is not accepting flowers at this time.
