Obituary

Debra Ann Tilghman, 69, of North Hanover, NJ, passed away Sunday, December 31,

2023 at the Landings in Hamilton. Born in Somers Point, NJ on July 14, 1954, she

resided in New Egypt for most of her life, moving to Lititz, PA for two years before

moving to Bordentown and most recently North Hanover, three years ago.


Predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Richard Tilghman, sister, Wendy Tilghman, and

stepmother, Mae Tilghman; she was survived by her brother, Douglas Tilghman who

passed away on January 2, 2024. Debbie is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law,

Heidi Tilghman and Kim Redford and her husband Charles; brother, Dennis Tilghman

and his wife MaryAnn; niece, Delaney Redford, and nephews, Charles "Chip" and

William "Liam" Redford; as well as many cousins, friends, and loved ones.


Debbie graduated from Allentown High School in 1972 and earned her bachelor's degree

at Arizona State University. She returned home to New Jersey and attended Rider

University to earn her teaching certificate. Debbie was a teacher for over 30 years at New

Egypt Elementary School, where she taught third grade for her first few years and spent

the majority of her career teaching fifth grade. "Miss Tilghman" was well loved by many

of her students, parents, and colleagues.


Debbie also worked seasonally at Great Adventure for many years, where she worked as

a supervisor in Food Service, and later as an auditor in Loss Prevention.

Debbie loved Ireland, the Yankees, and doing cross stitch. She was a huge supporter of

her niece and nephews in all their adventures. Debbie was a very kindhearted and

generous person and often donated to many in need, especially Angels Outreach in

Vorhees, NJ.


Debbie's wish was to be cremated. A visitation with the family will be held Saturday,

January 13, 2024 from 10-12pm at Atkins Hall, New Egypt United Methodist Church. A

memorial service remembering both Debbie and Doug will begin at 12pm. Following the

service, friends and family are invited to stay for food and fellowship to celebrate and

remember Debbie's life.
