Barbara M. (Emery) Merkling, age 83, of Mount Laurel passed away Monday, November 15 at Virtua – Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden. Born in Allentown, NJ to the late Ellis and Mable Emery, she resided in Mt. Laurel for the past 50 years and previously lived in Scottsdale, AZ and Jacobstown, NJ. Barbara was retired from the Law Firm of Parker McKay P.A. in Mount Laurel where she worked in the finance department. She completed course work in finance at Burlington County College. She enjoyed reading, baking and shopping and also loved spending time with her siblings. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who will be missed. Barbara was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Dr. Fredrick C. Merkling, Jr. and a son, Scott Merkling. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lora and Ronald Kerins of Brookhaven, PA; five grandchildren, Megan Merkling, Kristin Meyers, Scott Merkling, Ryan Kerins and Jackson Kerins; three great grandchildren, Daisy, Zoey and Owen; four siblings, Robert Emery and wife Kazuyo of New Egypt, Patricia Earley and husband Edward of Jacobstown, Gerald Emery of Naples, FL and Elaine Denelsbeck of Cookstown; a cousin, Madeline Reed, of Jacobstown and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Friday, November 19 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 with calling hours from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.
